About Department of Electronics Engineering, MIT

The Department of Electronics Engineering saw its genesis in the year 1949 and offers courses and specializations (B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engg., M.E. in Communication & Networking, M.E. in Wireless Technologies and M.E. in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems) related to the domains of Electronics and Communication technologies. The prominent areas of research that are ongoing in the department include Communication Technologies, Signal Processing, Pattern Recognition, Network Security, Sensor Networks, Optical/Radio Frequency Communication, Embedded Systems, VLSI and Artificial Intelligence. The department is supported by DST–FIST and UGC–DRS–SAP Phase II programs.

About ANNA UNIVERSITY

Anna University was established on 4th September 1978 as a unitary type of University. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Applied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained therefrom, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities. The University was formed by bringing together and integrating four well known technical institutions in the city of Madras (now Chennai) namely,

College of Engineering (CEG) (Established in 1794)
Alagappa College of Technology (ACT) (Established in 1944)
Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) (Established in 1949)
School of Architecture & Planning (SAP) (Established in 1957)


The University is situated in the southern part of the city of Chennai and it is 3 km from the nearest Railway Station (Guindy) and 10 km from Chennai Airport. The University’s Main Campus extends over 189 acres abutting the Adyar River on the North and Raj Bhavan on the South. The Madras Institute of Technology at Chrompet constitutes the second campus of the University which extends over 52 acres. A third Campus extending over 5 acres is located at Taramani, Chennai. These campuses have a variety of buildings serving the various needs of the University Community.In addition to the 4 University Department Campuses (CEG/MIT/ACT/SAP Campuses), presently Anna University has 13 Constituent Colleges, 3 Regional Campuses at Tirunelveli, Madurai and Coimbatore and 589 Affiliated Colleges (Government, Government Aided and Self- Financing Colleges).

1. As per QS World Ranking, Anna University has attained a rank of 427 among World Universities, rank of 105 among Asian Universities and rank of 14 among Indian Universities
2. As per NIRF Ranking 2023, Anna University has been positioned 13th among Engineering Institutions and 14th among the Universities in India.
3. As per Times Higher Education Ranking System, Anna University has been ranked in the band of 501 – 600 among World Universities and ranked 2nd among Institutions in India.
4. In 2023, Anna University is accredited by NAAC with the highest grade of “A++” in 3rd Cycle
5. In 2022, Anna University received the National Best University Award for its service to the society through “National Service Scheme Activities” from the Hon’ble President of India, Tmt. Droupadi Murmu, during NSS Day celebration at New Delhi.
